Symptone (pronounced SIMP-tuhm) is a pioneering nonprofit focused on revolutionizing the understanding and diagnosis of medical conditions on BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) skin tones. By promoting representation of BIPOC skin tones in medical textbooks and raising awareness about skin conditions, Symptone empowers individuals with crucial knowledge about their skin health. Through impactful blog and educational initiatives, we advocate for better education and awareness around dermatological conditions on BIPOC skin tones.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a Program Director to lead the strategic development and execution of all Symptone programs. This includes overseeing Public Relations and other key departments, as well as building and refining the structure of existing and future programs. The Program Director will be responsible for program budgeting, defining roles, and ensuring that all programs align with the organization’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development & Structure: Establish and implement frameworks for all of Symptone’s programs, including PR, community outreach, education, and health initiatives. Define the necessary roles, responsibilities, and workflows to ensure smooth operations.
  • Budgeting & Resource Allocation: Create and manage budgets for each program, ensuring that resources are used effectively and align with organizational goals.
  • Department Oversight: Lead and collaborate with all department heads (e.g., Public Relations, Community Engagement, Education) to ensure alignment and operational success across programs.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with the PR department, Community Engagement Coordinators (CECs), and other leaders to coordinate efforts and share resources across programs.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Track and assess the performance of all programs, gathering data to improve outcomes and make data-driven decisions for future initiatives.
  • Partnership & Sponsorship Development: Identify opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, and collaborations that can support and expand Symptone’s programs.
  • Volunteer & Team Management: Oversee program volunteers, ensuring they have clear roles and responsibilities. Support team members to ensure that all staff and volunteers are empowered to contribute effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in program management, nonprofit leadership, or similar roles.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Experience establishing structures and processes for program success.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Passion for Symptone’s mission and commitment to serving underserved communities.
  • Ability to work in a remote, volunteer-driven environment and lead diverse teams.
