Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager to lead our custom fabrication shop specializing in hydraulic lifting equipment, precision machining of parts, and equipment frame fabrication. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise in fabrication and machining processes, and a keen focus on Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) protocols. As the Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the shop's operations, including budgets, production, personnel management, quality control, and safety adherence.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Engineered Services Division (ESD) Operations Manager
  • Leadership: Set clear goals and objectives, provide clear and consistent communications and the feedback required to develop and maintain a high-performance team
  • Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, workforce requirements, and resource allocation.
  • Budget Management: Create and manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure the project stays within financial constraints.
  • Contract Management: Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and management of contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors. Ensure compliance with contractual terms.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring clear, timely, and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues, develop mitigation strategies, and address problems as they arise to minimize project disruption.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, reports, and records of meetings and decisions.
  • Design & Development Oversight: Lead the design and engineering teams in the creation of innovative and functional heavy equipment solutions. Ensure designs meet industry safety standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
  1. Quality Assurance
  • Quality Control: Ensure that project deliverables meet the required quality standards and comply with specifications.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track project progress, analyze performance metrics, and report on project status to stakeholders.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure that the project adheres to organizational policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
  1. Problem Solving
  • Problem Solving: Address and resolve any on-site issues, conflicts, or delays that may impact project timelines or quality.
  • Change Management: Manage changes to project scope, timelines, and resources, ensuring they are effectively communicated and integrated.

  • Project Closure: Oversee the completion of all project phases, conduct final inspections, and ensure all contractual obligations are met.
  • Project Takeaway: Facilitate project handover and compile lessons learned.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (master s degree preferred).

5+ years of experience in heavy equipment design, engineering, or related roles.

Proven experience managing large-scale design projects from concept to completion.

Strong knowledge of engineering principles, CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks), and product development cycles.

Understanding of safety and environmental regulations applicable to heavy equipment manufacturing.

Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to manage budgets, timelines, and multiple priorities effectively.

Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to project challenges.

PMP certification or equivalent project management experience is preferred.

Work Environment:

Office setting for project planning and design coordination.

Occasional travel to manufacturing sites, client locations, or testing facilities.

Interaction with suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies may be required.
