The role identified would be a key member in TCS sustainability team within Americas driving environmental sustainability and occupational health and safety initiatives, processes and certification within the geography aligned to the TCS Corporate standards and representing TCS is various stakeholder discussions on sustainability.

The Environmental Sustainability, Health & Safety Specialist position would be responsible for the below:

  • Expectations from the Role:
  • Implement HSE processes in the organization as per ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (Previously OHSAS 18001 standards). Identify opportunities for improving processes and procedures based on requirement and ensure high maturity of processes and procedures.
  • Facilitate the internal stakeholder teams to implement HSE processes associated with their area of work.
  • Identify opportunities for new HSE initiatives and ensure deployment in consultation with concerned stakeholders.
  • Carry out internal HSE audits as per ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (Previously OHSAS 18001 standards), prepare audit reports and monitor closure of findings.
  • Co-ordinate HSE activities at regional level in co-ordination with stakeholders.
  • Carry out HSE inspections, identify gaps and ensure closure.
  • Monitor applicable legal compliances and facilitate compliance.
  • Facilitate collection and reporting of environmental and H&S performance data, ensure accuracy and completeness, provide assurance.
  • Analyze HSE performance data for the region and report regional-level performance, carry out regional / country/geography-wide benchmarking of HSE performance to drive improvements, conduct analysis on sustainability parameters and support in reviewing relevant data.
  • Work with TCS Corporate team to drive initiatives within the geography in line with TCS process and practices.
  • Manage TCS Environmental Database and OHS database, record data and monitor the information contained therein.
  • Identify local carbon footprint from associated business activities and monitor report annually
  • Desired/Must Have Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency):
  • Exposure to Environmental Sustainability initiatives and reporting obligations including reporting environmental data, carbon accounting and GRI/IR reporting framework
  • Aware of current and evolving sustainability concepts like SDGs, TCFD, reporting frameworks or other regulatory changes at country/geography level, etc.
  • Technical understanding of environmental and occupational health, safety & wellbeing processes for an organization, HSE management systems and environmental sustainability.
  • Hands-on work experience in identifying environmental and H&S concerns, recommending, and driving mitigation actions for HSE processes and practices
  • Systems approach to HSE management, preferably as per ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (Previously OHSAS 18001 standards). Must have reasonable exposure to devising / implementing these processes
  • Should understand and leverage multi-stakeholder involvement in deployment of HSE processes and initiatives.
  • Understanding of legal requirements (country specific and at geography level) and ability to drive compliance
  • Extensive experience and up to date knowledge of Health Safety Environmental standards ISO14001 and ISO 45001
  • Good to Have Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency):
  • Certified as Lead Auditor - ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 (Previously OHSAS 18001 standards); NEBOSH/CSP/equivalent certification
  • Worked in a similar organization in terms of nature of business and scale of operation.
  • Handled environmental / OHS improvement programs, external reporting, etc.
  • An ability to assess business needs, identifying key priorities and opportunities.
  • Experience managing contractors and key suppliers, monitoring and reporting on their performance against tasks
  • Experience in energy management and climate mitigation programs

Qualifications And Associated Attributes

  • Graduate in Environment and/or Health and Safety (Candidates with master’s degree preferred).
  • 4-7 years’ experience.
  • Should possess excellent English communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Should have good computer skills: Microsoft Office (especially word, excel, power point etc.).
  • Must be a team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Should possess: - (1) Good organizational and planning skills, (2) Analytical and problem-solving skills, (3) Good and quick decision-making capability.

Salary range: $60,000 - $80,000 a year
