In the Music Monetisation Team, we’re on a mission to build the biggest, most trusted place to discover live events. We’re looking for a Data Scientist II to join our Product Insights team to help shape the future of live event discovery on Spotify.

In this role, you will empower the team with all things data—analyzing survey data to glean consumer insights and inform market sizing workstreams, diving into Spotify’s user-level streaming behavior and artist affinity to build new core datasets and dashboards, and more. We are looking for a Data Scientist capable of setting their own priorities and pushing ahead through any obstacle. As a Data Scientist, your mission is to turn our 200 petabytes of data into insights and gain a deep understanding of music and listeners to impact how users engage with Spotify.

What You'll Do

  • Work closely with a tight-knit, cross-functional team of engineers, data scientists, user researchers, designers, and product managers who are all passionate about creating new innovative products/experiences for our users.
  • Perform segmentation analyses to understand how users currently engage with Spotify, what their key pain points are, and help shape the future of what the users experience or product suite could become.
  • Work closely with the team including data engineering to build lasting solutions to our data modeling projects and bring model ideas through the entire lifecycle (from ideation to automatic production).
  • Turn data into insights to help us ideate and define innovative “go-to-market” products and app features for our users.
  • Establish and maintain a culture of rigor and data curiosity to drive tangible business impact.

Who You Are

  • You have at least 3+ years of experience, with a degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • Coding skills (such as Python) and, analytics tools experience (such as Pandas, SQL, or R), and machine learning packages is a plus.
  • Capacity and passion to translate business objectives into actionable insights, and analytics results into business and product recommendations.
  • Experience with quantitative survey research (e.g. conjoint/maxdiff), A/B testing, and marketing analytics.
  • You thrive in a dynamic environment and can execute with autonomy.

Where You'll Be

  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, you can be within the North American time zone as long as we have a work location.

The United States base range for this position is $ 107,765 - $ 153,951, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays. These ranges may be modified in the future.
