What You'll Do

We're looking for a Sr. Underwriting Consultant to join our Workplace Savings and Retirement Solutions Business Acceptance team. In this role, you'll partner with the Sales and Service teams to strategically evaluate retirement plan proposals, ensuring the delivery of highly competitive and compelling solutions tailored to attract new business and retain key clients, with a primary focus on the large market segment!

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with senior partners to critically review retirement plan documents, assessing viability and risk, and making high-level decisions on the approval or rejection of proposals in accordance with comprehensive analysis and strategic guidelines.
  • Cultivate and strengthen strategic relationships with key business partners, serving as a liaison to ensure alignment and adherence to the company's product and service rules of engagement.
  • Identify emerging market trends and oversee the development and implementation of enhanced processes through leadership in Offer Governance Committee reviews and Product Validation meetings.

Who You Are

  • 8+ years of related experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proven strategic, analytical, decision making, critical thinking, communication, organizational, prioritization, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of retirement aspects, including plan design, plan types/ various pillars, products and services, investments, and the competitive environment.
  • Must be a self-started who can work independently and as part of a team with people at all job levels.
  • Independently provider coaching, mentoring, and training to less experienced employees and internal customers.
  • Promote and lead team development through shared knowledge and information with the team members in working to resolve unusual and difficult situations.
  • Provide technical assistance to other roles on procedures and task related problems.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$95200 - $182400 / year
Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don't accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You'll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
