Market Research Analyst, Strategy

(Open to hybrid employees in Syracuse or Rochester, NY, and remote employees preferably in CT)

The Market Research Analyst is responsible for conducting in-depth research and analysis to provide insights that guide marketing strategies and creative development. You will gather and interpret data from various sources to understand market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscapes. Your findings will play a critical role in shaping the direction of our clients campaigns, ensuring they are targeted, relevant, and effective. This position reports to SVP, Strategy as part of the strategy department and supports multiple agency departments, including account, media & creative.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection:
    • Design and conduct primary and secondary research to gather data on consumer preferences, market conditions, and industry trends.
    • Utilize our in-house tools such as Feedback Loop, MRI Simmons, Vivixx and other resources.
  • Consumer Behavior Analysis:
    • Study consumer behavior to understand motivations, preferences, and purchasing habits.
    • Develop detailed consumer profiles and segments to guide targeted marketing efforts.
  • Market Trend Identification & Sharing:
    • Monitor and analyze market trends (in key PHG client categories, and those of potential new business opportunities), industry developments, and competitive activity.
    • Provide actionable insights on how these factors may impact client strategies and campaign performance.
    • Will include quarterly content development for thought leadership to the agency stakeholders and clients across many PHG verticals.
  • Reporting and Presentation:
    • Prepare clear and concise reports, presentations, and dashboards that communicate research findings to internal teams and clients.
    • Translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with account planners, creative teams, and media planners to integrate research insights into campaign strategies.
    • Ensure that research findings are applied effectively to meet client objectives.
    • Also includes coordinating with external research vendors and partners when necessary, ensuring that research projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
  • Survey Design and Execution:
    • Design, distribute, and analyze surveys to gather specific information needed for client projects.
    • Ensure that survey methodologies are sound and results are statistically significant.
  • Continuous Learning:
    • Stay updated on the latest market research tools, techniques, and best practices.
    • Bring innovative research approaches to the agency to enhance our capabilities.
  • Fact-Checking:
    • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of data used in stories, cross-referencing sources, and maintaining a high standard of data integrity.
  • Reporting and Writing:
    • Translate complex datasets into clear, compelling, and digestible news stories for general audiences.
  • Trend Monitoring:
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest data journalism tools, techniques, and trends to ensure up-to-date reporting.
  • Ad-hoc Research Support:
    • Provide research support for new business pitches, client presentations, and other ad-hoc projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with research and reporting tools
    • Preferred platforms & tools - MRI Simmons, Vivixx, Nielsen, Keen, DISQO/Feedback Loop, Looker Studio
  • Advertising Agency/Marketing experience preferred
  • Collaborative spirit with a proactive mindset
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage a variety of priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team is a must
  • Experienced using Microsoft Office and GSuite applications

Base Salary Range: $55k-$70k (dependent on location and experience)
