York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State.

The Interiors Project Manager Performs The Following Functions

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates, interior renovation projects. Act as Owner's agent in project development with selected outside A/E firms. Coordinates selection of equipment, materials, finishes, and furniture for projects. Reviews and approves financial reports, pay applications, and A/E job progress reports to ensure that budgets and schedules are maintained. Responsible for quality, schedule, and cost control. Reviews A/E plans and specifications for conformance with Agency requirements. Follows State Procurement Code in dealing with A/E's, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Develop, prioritize, and maintain a comprehensive plan for the interiors of the College including space plans and finishes. Develop appropriate budgets and long-term plans for implementation of interior renovation projects. Consults with the Director regarding plan development on a regular basis and assists the Director with the development of the annual Comprehensive Permanent Improvement Plan (CPIP). Attends various seminars, training, and conferences to stay abreast of new interior design concepts. Consults with other College departments and programs to determine the appropriate needs. Presents interior concepts and plans to various College executive and administrative staff, academic program directors, and faculty.
  • Responsible for furniture management to include budgets, projects, purchases, contracts, inventory, distribution, repair, and surplus. Serves as the primary contact for college wide furniture needs. Coordinates design and selection of furniture for construction projects and office relocations. Coordinates and manages timelines, delivery, installation, repairs, and warranties. Maintain thorough documentation, including specifications, communications, and communications records. Collaborate with College stakeholders, Facilities Management, and architects to ensure furniture complements the overall design and layout of spaces.
  • Conduct regular assessments of existing furniture inventory and identify areas for improvement or replacement. Research and identify reputable furniture suppliers and manufacturers. Develop and maintain quality standards for college furniture. Develop and manage the College furniture master plan for replacement. Stay informed about industry trends and innovations. Assist with interior finish selection including paint colors, fabrics, and other finishes. Provide educational sessions to college leadership as needed on evolving trends.
  • Assists with Facilities event management. Assists requesters with event layouts and details. May manage certain events depending on Facilities department load. Communicates with requesters, facilities management, and information services for event needs. May be assigned other College priority projects dependent upon project load.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Engineering, Architecture, Construction/Project Management, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of furniture/interior renovations/facility project management and supervisory experience.
  • The equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible work experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in an educational setting, preferably higher education.
