The Center of Excellence (CoE) in Data Science and Bioinformatics at LabCorp Information Technology department is seeking exceptional graduate-level students for our Advanced Data Science Internship program. This internship offers a challenging opportunity to apply advanced statistical, machine learning, and computational skills to solve complex healthcare problems.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement sophisticated machine learning and AI models
  • Develop and optimize novel bioinformatics algorithms
  • Collaborate on cutting-edge research projects in data science and bioinformatics


Minimum Education and Experience Required:
  • Pursuing an MS or Ph.D. degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Computational Biology, or related field


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with genomics or bioinformatics tools and techniques
  • Familiarity with graph databases and natural language processing
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS) and associated tools (S3, EC2, Lambda, Athena)
  • Experience with both relational and non-relational databases
  • Publications or presentations in relevant fields


Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong background in statistics, machine learning, and/or computational methods
  • Advanced proficiency in Python or R, including object-oriented and functional programming
  • Experience with deep learning techniques (e.g., CNN, LSTM, RNN) and frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow)
  • Solid understanding of evaluation techniques for supervised and unsupervised learning
  • Expertise in data visualization and interpretation
  • Ability to work independently and lead technical discussions


Working Conditions:
  • Onsite/Remote
  • Regularly works with a computer for approximately 6-8 hours a day
  • Must be able to read and understand complex directions in a professional corporate environment


Pay Range: $30 - $40 hourly

Benefits: All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data. Regular, full-time or part-time employees working 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(K), ESPP, Paid time off (PTO) or Flexible time off (FTO), Commissions, and Company bonus where applicable.
