Description:
-Working on collecting delinquent portfolios from customers (i.e. someone that has a car loan they haven't paid in 60 days)
-Attempt to bring the borrowers current
-Negotiating with the customer for payment plan, form of payment, etc. (consumer loans and mortgages)
-Calling on delinquent accounts for 30, 60, 90 days (after that moves to a collections agency)
Hybrid Role - 60/40 Split (60% doing Collections and 40% working with legal department - Legal Assistant)
-The other role is likely more akin to a legal assistant - we are going to need help with preparing New Matter Requests for sending to the attorney's office, which will involve reviewing accounts in Symitar, PSCU's Quick Assist (for credit cards), and in Temenos, along with understanding and assembling loan agreements, statements, and other supporting documentation; a successful temp will need a solid understanding of how loans and interest work, including across time, and we will train to navigate and read our systems/docs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
MUST HAVE
-Ability to make sound decisions in routine and non-routine situations
-Strong documentation skills around actions taken, telephone conversations, alternative financial arrangements, and correspondence
-Maintain confidentiality when speaking with members on and off the phone
-High School Diploma or GED required
-1 to 3 years of Collections experience OR escalated/retention or cancellation calls
-Knowledge of collection procedures
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
-Strong customer skills and ability to be empathetic with customers, but can control the conversation at the same time
-Proficient in MS Office Suite products (Outlook, Word, Excel)
For Hybrid Role - 6 months to 1 year of Legal Assistant/Paralegal AND collections
NICE TO HAVE
-Understanding of consumer loans, credit cards, mortgages, and vehicle loans
-Previous collections experience within the banking, credit union, or financial institution (credit cards, loans, auto)
-Spanish speaking is a bonus
-Experience with Symitar, PSCU Quick Assist and Temenos (for Legal Assistant role)
