The business unit performs design, analysis, testing, and fabrication to advanced technologies through the complete concept-to-flight development cycle.
Responsibilities
We have a current opportunity for a Robotics Engineer 1 to join our dynamic, multi-disciplinary team located at our facility in Albuquerque, NM supporting AFRL. In this role you will be focused on developing satellite and launch vehicle mechanical and structural technologies to include infrastructure of the robotics orbital control laboratory. The ideal candidate is interested in an autonomous work environment where they contribute to projects through the entire product development cycle; beginning with initial concept generation through detailed design and analysis, hardware fabrication, and finally verification testing.
To be successful, the candidate doesn't need to know all the answers, but must have a willingness to learn and solve problems. This position will focus on developing state-of-the-art structures and mechanisms for satellites, launch vehicles, and missile defense applications. Specific products include multiple payload launch structures, deployable satellite antennas, ground support equipment, optical payloads, and spacecraft mechanisms.

Summary of Role
- Working with a robotics engineering team responsible for developing, integration of new robotic arm capabilities to include development of various algorithms for testbed simulations and testing.
- Design and implement prototype level technologies into legacy infrastructures through CAD and analysis
- Complete special projects as assigned
Ideal Experience:
- Bachelor's degree with 2 years' experience or MS in Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Science) or related field
- Relevant Internship and/or university projects in the space industry
Desired Skills
- Familiarity of ROS2, Python, PID controllers, and machine learning
- Ability to develop control algorithms for robotic arm manipulation
- Professional experience in aerospace development of hardware and software
