This role provides senior management with an ongoing, objective, and independent view of industrial safety performance on projects. It involves creating a framework of policies, procedures, and processes for construction safety management, ensuring accountability, standardization, and adherence to industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the safety organization and develop long-term strategic goals and direction for corporate safety management systems.
  • Support safety processes, procedures, and training needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate contractor safety programs, including OCIP cost.
  • Lead behavior-centered safety initiatives and oversee incident reporting and investigations.
  • Perform effectiveness monitoring of safety programs and prepare corporate safety data reports.
  • Drive continuous improvement towards industry safety best performance.
  • Advise senior management on safety culture and conditions within the organization.
  • Support leaders in aligning towards an incident-free safety culture.
  • Mentor and develop safety leadership in field professionals, focusing on behavior-based safety principles and concepts.
  • Provide central coordination and escalation point for site safety concerns and conditions.
  • Support the development and implementation of safety plans and job safety analysis that match risk and operational needs.
  • Recommend improvements to health and safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in engineering or science (safety-related field) or equivalent demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Training in industrial safety is preferred.
  • Ten or more years of progressive safety experience in utility operations, generation, or construction, with a strong background in nuclear.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional is preferred.
