The Community You Will Join:

Pricing and availability (availability: think vacancy calendar) features on airbnb.com are visible, familiar and tangible to our guests. Our team owns pricing and availability end-to-end, customer-facing and backend-compute both. Pricing and availability anchors the guest booking flow from search to product page to checkout, which requires low latency, high qps, tier zero computation. We also collaborate closely with design/product to rapidly ship end-to-end product experiences with each release.

Our team is focused on quality, reliability, and simplifying natural complexity of pricing and availability. Simplify in particular - we are focused on being nimble for regular new pricing features with each release - without bloating complexity. Our team also cares deeply about culture. The Difference You Will Make:

As a Software Engineer in Pricing and Availability, you'll be responsible for building efficient and reusable backend components, with high quality, while also maintaining and improving performance of existing systems. Our projects often span stakeholders and peer teams so collaboration and communication skills are important. Each individual brings their own unique skill set, experiences, thought leadership and technical expertise to solve these technical challenges for Airbnb.

A Typical Day

• Build efficient and backend solutions that are reliable, performant and scalable. Build and launch for pricing and availability flows.
• Provide critical input in team roadmap and technical direction.
• Nurture a culture of happy healthy teams including supportive feedback, technical quality, and having fun
• Collaborate with internal teams across Search, Checkout, Reservations, Host Settings, Listings, Payments, Tax, Cities, Trust and others

Your Expertise:

• 2+ years of relevant software development industry experience in a fast-paced tech environment
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team, and across teams, at Airbnb
• Demonstrated expertise and be hands-on in backend systems within large-scale service-oriented architectures.
• Passionate about efficiency, availability, system quality and user experience
• Strong programming (Scala / Python / Java/ C++ or equivalent) skills for hands-on IC work

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

Pay Range

$153,000 - $184,900 USD
