Job Description

Position Overview:

KIPP Kansas City is seeking a proactive and organized HR Coordinator to support the mission of providing high-quality education by managing key human resources functions. As part of KIPP KC, the HR Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring smooth HR processes across our schools and administrative staff. The HR Coordinator will collaborate with school leaders and the regional office to ensure HR operations align with KIPP Kansas City's goals and values. This role requires a keen attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for fostering a positive, inclusive, and effective workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Onboarding & Hiring

  • Confirm salary placement for each candidate, draft offer letters, and route them appropriately;
  • Send paperwork and requirements to new hires, processing all incoming documentation in a timely manner;
  • Enter employees into the HR system and assist in benefits enrollment;
  • Ensure new hires complete all onboarding requirements prior to their start date.
  • Assists in the offboarding process for exiting employees

Employee Inquiries & Records Maintenance

  • Manage the HR email inbox by responding to emails, providing resources/information, and/or appropriately directing employees to the proper department or staff member;
  • Maintains the HRIS and Benefits Management systems with correct employee information and data
  • Provide answers to employee inquiries as they relate to HR records, employee profiles, and the handbook;
  • Support answers to questions related to benefits;
  • Send and track annual trainings required for all new hires and current employees;
  • Process credential applications for certificated teachers and assist with required documentation to keep records current.

Communication & Engagement

  • Manage the internal HR website for employee engagement;
  • Create and distribute the monthly HR newsletter;
  • Coordinate HR projects, including meetings, trainings, surveys, and taking meeting minutes.

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns and facilitate conflict resolution.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to workplace disputes and employee grievances.
  • Collaborate with legal and management teams on matters related to employee discipline and termination.
  • Develop and implement policies that promote a healthy workplace culture and employee satisfaction.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback to improve retention and workplace conditions.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred;
  • 1-3 years of HR or administrative experience, preferably within education or nonprofit sectors;
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, employment laws, and best practices;
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills;
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality;
  • Proficient in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Passion for education and alignment with KIPP Kansas City’s mission.

Salary is based on years of experience, educational background, and level of expertise.
