JOB SUMMARY:

Membership is the core of the Texas Restaurant Association (TRA). Critical to an effective member engagement and retention strategy that builds a strong association to support our mission, Member Engagement Managers are based across the Association’s four offices (Austin, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston, and San Antonio) to provide frontline support to its membership. This position requires a detail-oriented person with strong sales, interpersonal, and organizational skills to support membership needs and retention and help manage the metro office. Qualified individuals must be outgoing, eager to make personal phone calls and engage with in-person communications. This position will also assist with special events and functions as they relate to the Texas Restaurant Association (TRA).

DUTIES:

Member Engagement (80%)

Member Engagement is core to the success of TRA growing and sustaining a strong membership, counted in number of members, strength of engagement, and use of available benefits, products, and services. Member Engagement Managers play an integral role in the success of membership development and retention.

Key activities include:

• Execute the Association’s member acquisition strategies and promotions across the metro market as required, driving new membership sales in the market and supporting partner organizations offering TRA dual memberships.

• Earn commission on member acquisition, retention, products & services adoption, and acquisition.

• Promote the adoption of TRA member benefits, products, and services, to improve immediate adoption by new members and increase overall adoption penetration amongst existing members.

• Collect, analyze, and review member input on products and services with the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Member Value Manager to refine member offerings that best serve the needs of TRA membership.

• Collaborate with the Executive Director to execute membership growth events and targeted follow-up with non-member attendees to maximize event-driven member acquisition opportunities.

• Execution of a robust internal and external communications strategy to engage with industry and convert new members and provide existing members with invaluable information. This includes social media, informative blogs, newsletters, webinars, and more, and is always in coordination with the TRA Events Marketing Team.

• Assist in managing all local association functions, invitations, registration, RSVP lists, documents, name badges, etc. (committee meetings, board meetings, organization functions, and special events).

• Execute elements of the engagement plan and improving the quality of members’ information (locations, location managers, etc). Success is measured by meeting the annual member retention budget.

• Support news alerts and other up-to-the-minute pushes to members.

• Aggregate events and activities across the market into the unified calendar and supporting Association and Foundation Chair travel during a given board term.

• Manage internal chapter development programs, including member referral incentive opportunities and other similar programs that grow membership.

Metropolitan Office Support and Local Chapter Board Management (20%)

Supporting strong member engagement and retention requires a well-organized and effective metropolitan office team led by the Executive Director. Member Engagement Managers also play a key role ensuring this and supporting the Chapter/s within their market, all helping to ensure the goal that the TRA maintains its position as the leader providing Texas’ foodservice industry information and support. Duties in this category may be adjusted based upon the skills of the candidate and those of other Member Engagement managers based in that office, and at the discretion of the Executive Director, but may include:

• Answering phones, processing incoming and outgoing mail, managing and ordering all office supplies, and keeping important files organized and current.

• Attend and support the successful execution of functions and special events sponsored by the Association or its Chapter/s within the metro market, ensuring contract obligations met and payments current, and leveraging opportunities for member acquisition as detailed above.

• Assist with Chapter Board support of local Texas ProStart educators, students, and the Texas Restaurant Foundation within the metro market.

And all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 3 years’ experience in membership engagement and sales, or minimum 5 years minimum special events/sales experience in the hospitality industry.

• Strong competency with Microsoft Office Suite (Office 365), Salesforce/CRM experience preferred.

• Excellent verbal and written skills, Comfortable presenting to large crowds.

• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

• Proven attention to detail, highly organized, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Ability to maintain a consistently positive outlook towards all members and fellow staff.

• Previous experience in the hospitality/restaurant and/or association management/leadership is a plus.

• Job has some local travel required (not exceeding 30%) and some weekend work as events require.
