Job Title: Kafka/Microservices Architect
Location: Hybrid (Pittsburgh, Cleveland, or Phoenix)
Employment Type: W2 Only (No 3rd party resumes will be considered)

We are seeking a Kafka/Microservices Architect with strong experience in public cloud infrastructure, Kafka, and microservice design to join our team. This hybrid position will require you to work onsite in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, or Phoenix and collaborate closely with stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable solutions that meet evolving business requirements.

Responsibilities:
As a Kafka/Microservices Architect, you will be responsible for evaluating solution architecture service requests, ensuring that business outcomes, problem statements, requirements, and use cases are clearly documented by product owners or Business System Analysts. Youll collaborate with the product organization to prioritize requests, create draft artifacts, and conduct deep investigations into technologies and constraints.

Key tasks include identifying and engaging relevant stakeholders across business and technology, working with vendors, and ensuring adherence to best practices and enterprise architectural principles. Youll create a variety of technical artifacts including UML use case diagrams, sequence diagrams, and BPMN flow diagrams, while documenting key decisions, risks, and assumptions along the way.

Youll be expected to present deliverables in design reviews and obtain necessary approvals from stakeholders. Your ability to perform trade-off analyses and defend new technology strategies will be critical to your success. You will also perform peer reviews of other designs, ensuring alignment with architectural principles and business goals.

Technical Requirements:

  • Expertise in public cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform) and cloud-native design principles.
  • Strong experience with Kafka/streaming, Microservices, and event/messaging systems such as MQ.
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes, OpenShift, or other container-based platforms.
  • Experience creating and working with UML and BPMN diagrams to model business processes and architectural designs.
  • Knowledge of Git for source control, Jira for issue tracking, and Confluence for documentation.
  • Familiarity with 12-Factor App principles for modern application development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Security certifications such as CISSP, CSSP, CIAM, or CIMP are highly desirable.
  • Experience with Actimize is strongly preferred.

Soft Skills: The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, capable of explaining complex technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders. You should possess strong problem-solving abilities, a collaborative attitude, and be comfortable working across teams and vendors to meet project goals.

Why Join Us: This role offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies in the financial services and retail industries. You'll be part of a forward-thinking team, working to solve complex challenges using cloud infrastructure, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
