Job Title: Lead Systems Engineer (Monitoring Tools)

Duration of the project: 12 Months contract

Remote or onsite: Remote role (Need to travel to client location for the meetings it will be once or twice a month)

This is a Remote assignment, however, the team meets once or twice a month, and going forward it can change, so they prefer candidates who can commute or be available with 1 or 2 days' notice

Need a Lead Systems Engineer to support our systems monitoring initiatives, primarily focused on DataDog administration. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in managing monitoring tools, infrastructure monitoring, and automation on Linux platforms, particularly for Java-based applications running on Tomcat.

Key Responsibilities:

Administer and configure DataDog for infrastructure, network, and application monitoring on Linux.

Manage centralized logging and create dashboards for DataDog APM and other monitoring tools.

Integrate monitoring tools with existing systems and automate tasks using Python, Shell, or ANSIBLE.

Troubleshoot and support Java applications, network components, and systems using monitoring data.

Develop and document processes for monitoring tool usage, create training materials, and provide training.

Qualifications:

10 years of IT experience with strong knowledge of Linux, networking, and monitoring tools.

5+ years of hands-on experience with DataDog or similar tools like ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).

Scripting experience (Python, Shell), SSL setup on Linux, and knowledge of network components (F5, SNMP).

Familiarity with Selenium, cloud monitoring, and Java application monitoring.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Certifications in ITIL or SAFe Agile methodologies are a plus.
