Job Description

Naval Enterprise Sea Systems (NESS) is seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern who is highly motivated, creative and self-directed to help provide expertise and support to our sponsor and their mission. This position provides challenging opportunities to apply and expand one's domain knowledge, creative problem-solving capabilities, systems engineering skills, and technical expertise. Specific areas of interest include systems engineering, advanced analytics, operational experience, autonomous systems expertise/experience, data science, and independent evaluation.

Basic Qualifications

• Must be a student enrolled full-time pursuing an accredited degree seeking program in a Mechanical Engineering degree program
• Must continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering theory
• Sustained excellence in academic performance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience having applied mechanical engineering or similar learning to an internship or research/lab position
• Experience with prototype design
• CAD
• Demonstrated interest in serving the public
• Ability to obtain a DOD Secret Cleaance
