They are committed to delivering high-quality solutions and are currently seeking an experienced Draftsman/Technical Documentation Specialist. This role is essential in establishing and maintaining standards across technical documentation and creating instructional procedures to ensure the continued production of quality products.

Position Overview

The Draftsman/Technical Documentation Specialist will play a crucial role in reviewing and updating legacy prints and models, establishing file organization standards, and creating and maintaining manufacturing work instructions and standard operating procedures. This position will collaborate closely with Engineering and shop personnel to ensure technical documentation is accurate, organized, and up to date. The role will also involve transferring materials from AutoCAD to SolidWorks, making metal fabrication experience highly valuable. While the position is primarily desk-based, occasional interaction with engineers on the shop floor will be necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and update legacy prints and models to current company standards.
  • Help establish and maintain file organization standards for prints and technical documentation.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing work instructions, standard operating procedures, and other job-related documentation with assistance from Engineering and shop personnel.
  • Improve, establish, and maintain controlled print procedures.
  • Assist Engineering with the creation and maintenance of manufacturing prints.
  • Assist Engineering with the maintenance of bills of materials.
  • Create line art for product manuals.
  • Transfer materials from AutoCAD to SolidWorks.
  • Create customer manuals, focusing on process and data-driven approaches.
  • Take on new responsibilities and projects as the company continues to grow, with opportunities to develop professionally.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in Drafting or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with document control procedures and software in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in writing technical instructions.
  • Knowledge of typical manufacturing processes, including welding (manual and robotic), sheet metal fabrication, assembly tolerances, machining, metal casting, and coatings.

Skills:

  • Proficient with SolidWorks and 3D solid modeling techniques.
  • Familiar with 2D CAD software such as AutoCAD or DraftSight.
  • Familiar with the use of PDM software.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
