Environmental Noise Analyst (Entry-level)
Location: Remote - requires travel in Texas once every 1 - 2 months

ICF is seeking an Environmental Noise Analyst (Entry-level) to support a broad range of transportation projects, preparing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents and solutions related to compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. The successful candidate will perform highway traffic noise assessments, extract spatial and traffic data, and build traffic noise models. They will collect traffic noise data in the field, operate a sound level meter and relevant software. This position will require occasional short-term/overnight travel for fieldwork and meetings and will require a valid driver's license. They will support the assessment of impacts and help the team understand and make decisions related to key project objectives. What you will be doing:

  • Build traffic noise models in Traffic Noise Model (TNM) software (training will be provided)
  • Support highway traffic noise assessments, identify potential noise receivers, potential ambient noise measurement sites, and potential field validation sites
  • Extract spatial data and traffic data from various sources for noise modeling
  • Collect traffic noise data. Operate the sound level meter and relevant software
  • Summarize findings in technical reports
  • Require occasional short-term/overnight travel for fieldwork and meetings
  • Perform other related duties as necessary
  • Travel requirements are 1 time every 1 - 2 months, mainly in Texas, for 2 - 3 days at a time to collect traffic data. Will travel to other locations as necessary


What we need you to have (minimum qualifications):

  • BA/BS in environmental studies, urban planning, GIS, or a related field
  • Experience using ESRI (ArcGIS Pro/ArcMap)
  • Must have valid a driver's license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check
  • Able to lift boxes no heavier than 30 pounds, climbing stairs and ladders, driving, walking, standing, above head arm movements


What would be useful:

  • Experience in use/application of traffic noise analysis and appropriate sound measuring equipment
  • Experience using TNM software (Federal Highway Administration Traffic Noise Modeling software)
  • TNM 2.5 training certification
  • Experience with or familiarity with TxDOT traffic noise guidelines
  • Traffic noise analysis of over three highway projects in the past three years is preferred
  • Experience using sound level meter software such as Brel & Kjr integrating-averaging sound level meter or similar

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is :

$49,148.00 - $83,552.00
