$115,000 - $130,000 base salary

Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations of our organization. This role is responsible for day-to-day accounting, compliance with financial policies and GAAP, and continuous improvement of financial controls. The Controller will manage general accounting, investment accounting, tax compliance, budgeting, banking, payroll, and benefits. The position reports to the Director of Finance and requires a candidate with strong financial acumen and leadership skills.

Job Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting: Oversee the financial reporting process, including preparing and publishing monthly financial statements.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Analyze financial statements to identify opportunities to reduce costs and increase revenue; manage budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Accounting Tasks: Manage the accounting team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
• Cash Flow Management: Help manage cash flow and participate in daily decision-making processes.
• Set, analyze, and monitor budgets aligned with organization strategy.
  
  
  

Design and deliver treasury strategies and operations.

• Develop financial guidelines in response to statutory and economic requirements.
• Adhere to internal policies, procedures, and external standards to minimize business risk.
• Monitor the organization's risk profile and limit exposure to undue risks.
  
  
  

Job Requirements

• 7-10 years of accounting and finance experience, ideally in a complex nonprofit with multiple programs.
• BA in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• Solid experience in coordinating audit activities, managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and investment accounting.
• Experience in grants management related to compliance and reporting of government, corporate, and foundation grants.
• Proficient in NetSuite
