POSITION OVERVIEW

The Network Administrator is a member of the American Heritage Schools Information Technology department and will be involved in a variety of projects. The Network Administrator is competent and experienced with networking principles, design, deployment, and support.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting in the design, implementation of new network solutions, and support network solutions and/or improve the efficiency of the current networks

    • Communicate and be the point of contact with external outsourced companies regarding networking

      • Work with outsourced vendors on the best recommendations for the identified needs

  • Communication and ensurance regarding RMA s

  • Assist the Director of Cybersecurity and Director of IT Infrastructure for the overall protection the network

  • Offer best practice advice and recommendations towards overall network architecture and strategy

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of American Heritage School's network.

    • (WAN, LAN & WIFI)

  • Protect data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing network security in alignment with the most current standards for both K12 and business privacy needs

  • Install, configure, and support network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS, and DHCP

  • Assist the Director of IT Infrastructure in deployments, day-to-day tasks & helpdesk ticket service

  • Communication with department heads regarding needs of new softwares or programs that are required to be on networking

    • Communicate and participate fluidly with department heads and stakeholders regarding downtime of outages either planned or unplanned on-site, master calendar event needs, etc.

  • Configure firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security

    • Collaborate with vendors to configure appliances for the need of the organization

  • Maximize network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting

  • Support networked building systems to ensure vendor has communication

  • Arrange scheduled upgrades

  • Investigate faults in the network

  • Assist and support the Director of IT Infrastructure with on-premise servers and virtual machines (VM s)

  • Report network status to key stakeholders, IT Director, and departments

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Wireless APs and equipment

  • Communicate and collaborate with the IT department on projects and future need of network changes to ensure a smooth transition

  • Support and maintain VoIP systems

SECONDARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be a backup person to Systems and Network Administrators

  • Serve as a backup to your teammates in the Information Technology (IT) Department as the need arises

  • Attend relevant conferences, webinars, lectures, and seminars to ensure continuous development in the field

  • Organize and keep up-to-date with the helpdesk system regarding the daily, weekly, monthly, and/or yearly scheduled tasks.

    • Ensure all new needs are researched, documented, and presented to the Director of IT Infrastructure and Director of IT and appropriate procedures are followed to obtain needs

  • Collaborate on and implement projects independently or with other IT staff

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in computer science, computer systems, or related field

  • 3-5 years of proven experience supporting and architecting large-scale enterprise IT network solutions for internal and outward-facing applications for educational institutions (Schools & Universities) preferred.

  • CCNP/CCNA/MCITP or equivalent Network certifications in a similar technology stack are preferred.

  • Proven experience installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, WAN/LAN protocols, and Wireless technologies

  • Working with Aruba switches & wireless systems, Fortinet security appliances are preferred.

  • Experience maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting

  • Experience with MacOS, Nutanix, Vmware, Microsoft Servers, Linux, Mitel, or Avaya (Preferred)

  • Experience with VoIP systems preferred

  • Ability to walk throughout the day to other locations on campus
