The Merchandise Analyst – Food & Beverage applies technical skills, analytics and creative problem-solving to assess, support, and guide the work efforts of the Walt Disney World Food & Beverage and Merchandise Lines of Business. Types of analyses include, but are not limited to: standard methodology identification, benchmarking, what-if scenarios, case development, and impact quantification. The person in this position should be able to compile and deliver data, analyses, reporting, dashboarding, and tools that are effective and impactful, simple to understand, and stable to run. A successful Analyst must have a high capacity for productivity, a passion and curiosity to understand the "why" behind the data, and an ability to find and share the “story” behind the quantitative results.

This role will report to the Manager, F&B/Merchandise Business Insights and Analytics.

What You Will Do


  • Provide analytical partnership and reporting support for Lines of Business partners, Operations clients, and others with a strategic approach
  • Partner with key stakeholders and clarify or interpret sophisticated information to arrive at the root business questions that require evaluation and insight
  • Collaborate optimally with leadership and teammates to develop project approaches, analytical methodologies, and tactical queries/models/formulas/calculations
  • Proactively share communication across teams to ensure everyone understands project updates, priorities, and timelines and identify appropriate courses of escalation as needed
  • Support teammates by proactively documenting and communicating findings and standard processes
  • Consider and adapt to operational/location/product complexity, uniqueness, and nuance as well as leadership and/or client feedback
  • Develop and deliver work that is effective and timely
  • Contribute to all aspects of project work from start to finish—Inclusive of project scoping/definition, data mining, analysis execution, iterative evolution, insight derivation, presentation building, and communication of results
  • Connect and pull and validate data across a variety of systems and sources
  • Outline and explain analysis approach and methodology
  • Conduct analyses, assess Guest, Cast, and business impacts, and interpret results to inform project recommendations
  • Build data visualizations and reporting to evaluate operations’ and/or product performance across locations/like-products, internal/external benchmarks, forecasts, and other KPIs
  • Derive insights based on trends in operational performance and productivity analytics
  • Build presentations to effectively communicate complex analytical methodologies/results as clear, story-based interpretations for a variety of analytical/non-analytical audiences, clients, and levels of leadership


Required Qualifications


  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of mathematical and statistical analysis methods with real-world application
  • Experience building analytics, methodologies, and/or tools that deliver impactful insights
  • Strong communication and partnering skills with teammates, leaders, and clients
  • Track record of consistently being considered a “partner/peer/teammate of choice”
  • Proficient in time management and prioritization; balancing multiple projects and deadlines amidst constant change
  • Ability to incorporate and promote change and/or feedback in a productive, positive, and professional manner
  • Competency to translate results into clear, story-based interpretations to present with non-technical and technical audiences
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, including PowerPoint and Excel
  • Basic proficiency with programming language(s) (Snowflake/SQL/Python) and/or data visualization software (Tableau/MicroStrategy/Power BI)


Preferred Qualifications


  • 2+ years of Theme Parks and Resorts experience
  • Experience with Merchandise and/or Food & Beverage lines of business concepts, challenges, and processes
  • Proficient in Snowflake/SQL and Python programming
  • Proficient with data visualization software (Tableau/MicroStrategy/Power BI)
  • Project management certification


Required Education


  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Simulation, Mathematics, or related field


Preferred Education


  • Advanced degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Simulation, Mathematics, or related field
