Senior Director of Technology

The Senior Director / Vice President(level) of IT Strategy Consulting will be responsible for driving transformative IT strategies for commercial operations within the pharmaceutical industry. This leader will oversee projects involving data platforms, applications, and data sourcing strategies, ensuring that technology investments are aligned with commercial goals. This role will collaborate with C-level executives and senior stakeholders to design and implement solutions that enhance data-driven decision-making, optimize commercial operations, and support regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic IT Leadership:

• Lead the development of IT strategies that support commercial operations, focusing on data platforms, applications, and data sourcing.
• Drive the assessment of current IT capabilities, identify gaps, and recommend technology solutions to improve efficiency, data utilization, and overall business impact.
• Partner with executive teams to align IT investments with broader business goals and objectives for commercial excellence.

Data Platform & Application Strategy:

• Oversee the design and implementation of scalable data platforms that support commercial data integration, analytics, and reporting.
• Guide the selection and deployment of commercial applications that streamline sales, marketing, customer engagement, and data management.
• Evaluate and implement data sourcing strategies to access and integrate high-quality, relevant data for commercial use cases, including patient data, market data, and sales data.

Consulting and Client Engagement:

• Serve as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders, providing strategic insights and recommendations on IT transformation and digital strategies.
• Conduct workshops and strategy sessions to align technology roadmaps with commercial objectives, supporting functions like market access, real-world evidence, and digital engagement.
• Present findings and recommendations to senior client executives, including C-suite and VPs, articulating the value and impact of proposed solutions.

Project and Team Management:

• Lead multi-disciplinary project teams, ensuring high-quality delivery of consulting engagements on time and within budget.
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure client satisfaction and successful outcomes.

Market and Industry Expertise:

• Maintain a deep understanding of pharmaceutical industry trends, challenges, and best practices related to commercial IT strategies.
• Stay current with evolving technologies in data management, cloud solutions, and AI/ML applications relevant to pharma commercial operations.
• Represent the organization at industry conferences, webinars, and events, contributing thought leadership and expanding professional networks.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 12+ years in IT strategy consulting or technology leadership, with at least 8 years focused on the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry, specifically supporting commercial operations.
• Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of commercial functions within pharma, including sales, marketing, market access, patient engagement, and analytics.
• Technology Skills: Expertise in commercial data platforms (such as Salesforce, Veeva, and IQVIA), cloud-based data solutions, data integration tools, and commercial applications.
• Leadership Abilities: Proven ability to lead strategic initiatives, manage large-scale projects, and mentor cross-functional teams.
• Consulting Acumen: Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to influence senior executives and drive consensus.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.

Preferred Skills and Certifications:

• Certifications: PMP, ITIL, or other relevant project management or IT service management certifications.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, Azure), data integration and ETL tools, and advanced analytics.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, 21 CFR Part 11) related to data management and compliance.
• Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable technology solutions.
