Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Director of Engineering with over 10 years of experience in the utility-scale energy storage industry. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive background in one or more of the following areas: development, project management, construction, origination, and commissioning. This leadership role will be responsible for overseeing the engineering aspects of utility-scale energy storage projects, from design through execution, ensuring that all technical components are aligned with project goals and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the engineering team in the design, development, and execution of utility-scale energy storage projects.
  • Oversee all technical aspects of project delivery, including system design, interconnection, equipment selection, and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with project development, origination, and construction teams to ensure seamless integration of technical requirements into project planning and execution.
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers, providing leadership and guidance to support professional development and project success.
  • Interface with external stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, contractors, and utility companies, to ensure the alignment of engineering deliverables with project objectives.
  • Provide technical oversight during the commissioning process to ensure safe and efficient operations of energy storage systems.
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines to ensure engineering resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements to maintain the company's competitive edge in the market.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, environmental, and performance standards for utility-scale energy storage projects.
  • Support business development teams in evaluating technical feasibility and providing input on project origination and procurement.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in the utility energy storage market, with proven experience in one or more of the following: project development, construction, origination, or commissioning.
  • In-depth understanding of utility-scale energy storage systems, battery technologies, and energy markets.
  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of successfully managing engineering teams and complex projects.
  • Experience with engineering design tools, power system analysis software, and grid interconnection processes.
  • Proven leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a results-driven approach to project challenges.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for project meetings, site visits, and stakeholder engagements.
