Our client, a major hedge fund, is looking for an early-career Data Scientist with 1-4 yrs' experience working with financial / enterprise data at scale.

You will be working with a dedicated Data Science team that builds analysis pipelines across Market Data and Alternative Data for investment teams across the organisation. This will include engaging directly with Portfolio Managers, Analysts and Traders to help them improve their strategies and directly drive performance.

We should flag that this role does *not* involve cutting-edge research on deep learning / AI tools and technologies, although there will be exposure to advanced tooling where appropriate.

Due to the urgency of the hire, we will not be considering candidates requiring visa sponsorship or with long (1+ mths) notice / non-compete periods.

Essential

  • 1-4 yrs' experience working as a Data Scientist, Data Engineer or Data Analyst with exposure to financial data, alternative data, or similar
  • Accomplished Python and SQL programmer
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles (e.g. via Computer Science degree programme or on-the-job experience).
  • Great communication skills.
  • Keen interest in financial markets - domain knowledge and engagement are as important as technical know-how.

Compensation range

Under New York law, employers are required to post pay ranges for roles. This role attracts a base salary range of $125,000 - $225,000, depending on skills and experience.
