Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented and passionate Outerwear Assistant Designer to join our dynamic Michael Kors design team. As an Outerwear Assistant Designer, you will collaborate with the design team to create innovative and stylish outerwear collections that meet the needs and desires of our customers. Your creativity, attention to detail, and understanding of current fashion trends will play a vital role in bringing our brand's vision to life. Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with the design Director to develop concepts and ideas for new outerwear collections

- Conduct extensive market research to identify emerging trends, consumer preferences, and competitors' designs

- Create sketches, technical drawings, and prototypes for outerwear designs

- Work closely with the pattern-making and sample development team to ensure accurate translation of designs into physical garments

- Source and select appropriate fabrics, trims, and materials for each design

- Create and update technical specification sheets and design documentation

- Participate actively in fittings and provide constructive feedback for fit and overall design improvements

- Stay up-to-date with industry developments, attend fashion shows, and research relevant design techniques to continuously enhance design skills

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including merchandising, production, and marketing, to ensure successful execution of designs

- Maintain a keen understanding of our target market and tailor designs to meet customer needs and preferences

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field

- Proven experience as an Assistant Designer within the outerwear industry is preferred

- Strong portfolio showcasing creative and innovative outerwear designs

- Proficient in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator and Photoshop

- Excellent understanding of garment construction, fabric properties, and technical specifications

- Up-to-date knowledge of current fashion trends, color schemes, and design techniques

- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously

- Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams

- Flexibility to adapt to fast-paced, deadline-driven environments

- Passion for outerwear design, with a strong desire to create exceptional products that resonate with customers

- Minimum of 3 years experience in the outerwear/fashion industry
