Roles And Responsibilities

The Account Manager is responsible for driving account-specific outreach that maintains existing business, while uncovering growth opportunities within existing accounts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (*denotes GDP related functions):

  • Spearhead the growth of active/assigned customers by fostering and nurturing strong relationships
  • Oversee both transactional and contractual freight opportunities to optimize customer satisfaction and revenue
  • Proactively make phone calls to existing customers to identify new opportunities and contribute to the expansion of the business portfolio
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to guide and optimize service performance*
  • Ensure SOPs are regularly updated to reflect industry best practices and evolving customer needs*
  • Drive peak performance initiatives to enter and grow accounts, emphasizing the importance of robust customer relationships
  • Collaborate with the sales team to uncover potential upsell and cross-sell opportunities
  • Conduct Monthly/Quarterly Business Reviews with customers collaboratively with Sales Executives, Quality Coordinators and Head of Strategic Business Development to evaluate performance, address concerns, and identify areas for improvement*
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between customer expectations and service delivery
  • Collaborate with the Head of Strategic Business Development to assist in forecasting for the assigned customers, providing valuable insights and data to support accurate predictions

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3 years’ experience within transportation, logistics, and /or brokerage environment preferred
  • Deals mostly with tactical/spot accounts, while making a high volume of daily outbound calls
  • Develops strong phone presence and ability to overcome customer objections to sell DeSpir transportation services with confidence
  • Experience with CRM preferred
  • Proven track record in sales, business development, account management and relationship building
  • Knowledge of the operational attention to detail that will be required to succeed within the industry
  • Ability to multi-task and work well with others in a fast-paced environment within strict time frames
  • Passionate about customer service and solving problems with customer experience in mind
  • Mathematics and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Entrepreneurial, pro-active spirit
