Job Description Summary

This Senior Project Manager role at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. provides an outstanding chance to lead and implement finance system and business process projects that will drive operational effectiveness and efficiency. You'll work closely with Finance and IT senior management, customers, team members, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery, helping to achieve project goals and deliver high-quality results.

Job Duties

  • Project Planning and Management
    • Define and lead project scope, goals, and results that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and customers.
    • Develop comprehensive project plans that merge business requirements with company and project goals.
    • Drive and coordinate team members, partners, customers, and technical personnel throughout every stage of the project.
    • Empower project team to complete tasks on time; track Project/Program health.


  • Project Financial Oversight
    • Conduct financial analysis and build budgets for projects.
    • Track and control project expenditures to ensure they stay within budget.
    • Prepare and present financial reports to partners and executive management.


  • Team Leadership
    • Lead project teams, ensuring that members have clear goals and responsibilities.
    • Provide direction and support to project team members, encouraging a collaborative and productive work environment.
    • Close cross-functional gaps and empower the team to achieve project objectives.


  • Project Risk Management
    • Identify, track and drive resolution of project risks, issues and changes to ensure successful and timely project delivery.
    • Establish contingency plans to resolve project risks.
    • Delegate and hold project team accountable across various geographies and cross-functional teams.
    • Raise issues and risks to senior management as needed.
    • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.


  • Project Communication & Management
    • Communicate project expectations to any audience in a clear and timely manner.
    • Liaise with project partners on an ongoing basis and support communication of changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
    • Prepare and deliver regular project status reports to team members, customers and senior management.
    • Develop cross functional relationships across the organization to drive efficiency in the project approval and execution.
    • Ensure all project documentation is complete, accurate, and easily accessible.


Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge & Skills)

  • 10+ years of meaningful work experience
  • History of running large, dynamic projects
  • Experienced in practical process improvement (PPI), finance systems and/or finance project implementation
  • Ability and confidence to provide consultation, feedback and mentorship to management
  • Experience related to Oracle EPM software (HFM, FCCS, Planning, EPBCS) implementations is a plus
  • Excellent consultancy skills with ability to function as an effective and trusted partner to internal clients at all levels of the organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint
  • Experience effectively balancing work and delivering against varying demands
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques
  • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and appropriately prioritize tasks
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities


Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $103,100.00-$154,700.00.
