Title: Distribution Engineer

Location: Remote (but needs to be in Pennsylvania)

Duration: 6 months

Pay Range: $45/hr - $53/hr


Job Description:



  • This will be a fully remote role to start.

  • Goal is to eventually have office in Allentown or north of Philadelphia. Unique opportunity for new work with client.

  • Field survey/ driving required 10-20% of the time.

  • In person customer meetings will be needed.



Duties will include:



  • Developing the work packages for OH distribution engineering design projects

  • Using customer GIS and WMS systems such as ArcFM, EFD, EAM, STORMS, GIS, and Alden One.

  • Ability to work in both a field and office setting

  • Performing structural analysis, guying calcs, and calculations of electric demand

  • Coordination of conflicting utilities, and other field engineering design requirements, the assessment and development of design bid packages for complex design projects in urban environments, work permit development, easements and ROW applications, and the design of mainline vault medium voltage switchgear, network system design and distribution system protection and coordination.


Background must haves:



  • Two (2) + years of relevant experience is either working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company, performing design engineering

  • Experience with distribution engineering design, specifically joint use engineering for utility pole communication attachments.

  • Candidate must provide their own reliable transportation

  • Local customer/job related travel is anticipated and will be reimbursed at IRS approved rates


Nice to haves:



  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering

  • EIT/FE credentials or PE license

  • Experience providing estimated costs, development of a BOM, calculating the CIAC

  • Experience with design tools such as OCALC, Spida-Calc

  • Experience using MicroStation--performing Electrical Distribution design

  • Experience with design standards
