  • From client Requirements scope:

    • Review current record retention schedule and identify any outdated or irrelevant items that need to be removed.

    • Identify all relevant legal and regulatory requirements applicable to data privacy laws, state, provincial and federal laws and regulations, industry-specific laws and regulations, and tax requirements.

    • Conduct data interviews and workshops for input on specific record types, retention periods, and any unique requirements from relevant stakeholders, including legal, compliance, and department heads.

    • Group records into categories based on their function or purpose assessing existing codes and identifying new codes to be added to the schedule.

    • Assign appropriate retention periods to each category, ensuring that new product and business unit needs are incorporated.

    • Document and deliver the schedule in a clear, concise and searchable format. Include details such as record categories, retention periods, and any special instructions.

    • Provide train-the-trainer materials and sessions for key users.
