A Day in the Life
Join our System Test team within the R&D Diabetes organization, playing an important role in bringing next-generation pump systems to the forefront of diabetes care. You'll work with innovative medical devices, ensuring they meet the highest standards of functionality, reliability, and user experience.

The Diabetes Operating Unit is dedicated to improving the lives of people with diabetes by delivering innovative medical solutions that help patients achieve better glucose control. Our System Test team plays a key role in bringing these solutions to market, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards through rigorous testing and validation.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

System Integration and Testing:
  • Support system integration testing for our new generation pump systems, ensuring they meet design specifications and user needs.
  • Perform functional, stability, and longevity testing of products and systems, identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Conduct system testing activities, including smoke tests to verify stability and functionality of releases.

Test Case Development and Execution:
  • Contribute to the development of test plans and test cases based on system requirements.
  • Review and execute integration and verification test cases.
  • Update devices such as pumps and sensors with the latest software versions as needed.

Issue Management and Defect Resolution:
  • Retest open tickets, download logs and traces for issue analysis, and update issue statuses in JIRA as directed by project leads.
  • Participate in defect review meetings, follow up on open bugs, and assist in driving root cause analysis to ensure timely resolution.
  • Work closely with the project leads to ensure identified issues are addressed and documented properly.

Collaboration and Communication:
  • Maintain open communication with project leads, system analysts, development and other testing teams.
  • Report testing outcomes clearly and collaborate effectively within the team to meet project deadlines.
  • May assist in creating and delivering training materials to enhance the team's testing capabilities.

Continuous Improvement:
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in testing processes and methodologies to enhance team efficiency and product quality.
  • Utilize test tools and automation frameworks to streamline test execution and improve test coverage.


Must Have Minimum Requirements: To be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident in your applicant profile.

Bachelor's degree in engineering or scientific discipline and 2+ years experience in technical testing or engineering experience

OR

Advanced Degree in engineering or scientific discipline and 0+ years experience in technical testing or engineering experience

Nice to Have Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in system testing, with a strong ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and frameworks.
  • Experience with medical devices is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience in system and integration testing environments, including proficiency with diagnostic tools such as pumps, sensors, sniffers, and SPIS boards.
  • A problem-solving mindset with a keen eye for detail, capable of identifying issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Previous experience in reporting on testing outcomes clearly and collaborate within cross-functional teams.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$80,800.00 - $121,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
