Our work depends on Technical Writer/Editor joining our team to assist the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals (OMHA) in managing its appeals workloads.

As a Technical Writer/Editor you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. You will deliver simple solutions to complex problems. You'll tailor cutting-edge solutions to the unique requirements of our clients.

HOW A TECHNICAL WRITER/EDITOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
  • Participate in researching, analyzing, and creating technical documentation such as end user guides, process/procedure documentation, training materials, and technical communications.
  • Translating technical information into clear, readable documentation to be used by both technical and non-technical users. Documentation includes technical documents, business proposals, memos, reports, user manuals, knowledge base articles, status reporting, briefings and presentations, functional descriptions, system specifications, guidelines, special reports, and other project deliverables to meet contract requirements.
  • Participating in researching and compiling technical data for use in various operations and maintenance manuals, training materials, system design documents, and other technical documentation.
  • Obtaining data from review of documentation, interviews with client and project personnel (SMEs), drawings, schematics, reports, and the study of published material.
  • Researching and gathering technical and background information for inclusion in project documentation and deliverables.
  • Developing outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and stakeholders ensuring that final documents meet applicable contract requirements and regulations.
  • Organizing and maintaining documents in a documentation repository.
  • Proofreading and providing feedback on materials prepared by peers.
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
  • Providing occasional backup project support, such as assisting with onboarding processes, scheduling, training records, and other tasks to meet contract requirements as needed.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • Bachelor of Science.
  • 2 + years' experience in Microsoft Office suite proficiency.
  • 2+ years' experience preparing document for delivery or publication.
  • Excellent writing/editing skills.
  • 2-3 years' experience in technical writing.
  • Expertise in Section 508 Compliance.
  • Experience in quality assurance measures.
  • Experience with Confluence and Microsoft Teams preferred.
  • An attention to detail and correct usage of formatting, grammar, and spelling is a must.
  • Strong ability to learn quickly and understand technical language and terminology around the products and systems being supported.
  • Must be able to work independently in a team environment and be flexible around evolving needs while managing both schedule and overall commitments to meet project deliverables.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience/background within the healthcare industry and/or government contracting is desirable
  • Familiarity with remediation of technical documentation to comply with accessibility standards such as Section 508 compliance.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and version control procedures.
  • Familiarity with agile approaches.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project and other project management tools.
  • Strong attention to detail to meet quality expectations for customer deliverables.
  • Ability to organize workload to meet delivery timelines on schedule.
SECURITY CLEARANCE LEVEL:
  • Ability to pass HHS and company background check to obtain a Public Trust Level 5 clearance.

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $56,100.00 - $75,900.00. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
