Retail Supervision & Risk Management is an independent group responsible for providing supervisory support through direct supervision, escalation, oversight, analysis, and supervisory risk assessments, to Schwab's Investor Services (retail) group. Retail Supervision & Risk Management vision is to be a trusted independent partner of all Schwab customers that promotes business growth through effective risk management. Retail Supervision & Risk Management is seeking a skilled Regulatory Data Analyst to support the Retail Supervision's Control Testing and End to End Programs. As a Regulatory Data Analyst, you will support the design and build out of a data-driven control testing framework and end to end program that leverages supervisory analytics and reporting to inform control testing and end to end review priorities and supports the broader goal of ensuring our supervisory programs and controls continue to be fit for purpose and operationally effective. Our RSRM team will rely on you for the work listed below:
  • Designing and implementing analytics and reporting to enable control monitoring and testing, and end to end deep dive reviews
  • Designing and implementing analytics and reporting that enable holistic risk identification including patterns, trends, and outliers
  • Supporting the development of a data driven, risk-based control monitoring and testing plan in alignment with control testing program objectives
  • Executing against test plans to ensure that our supervisory procedures and controls remain fit for purpose, i.e., are adequately designed to mitigate risk, efficient, effective, and aligned with regulatory expectations
  • Evaluating supervisory control design, adequacy, and effectiveness based on risk and results; identifying risks, gaps and opportunities to evolve supervisory controls and programs
  • Communicating observations, findings and actionable insights to senior leaders and key stakeholders, soliciting feedback and calibrating results
  • Delivering high quality, impactful results regardless of dependencies and obstacles utilizing the right mix of analysis, instinct, agility, and urgency
What you have

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Data Analyst experience in Compliance, Audit, or as Regulatory Examiner in financial services
  • 5-8+ years' experience in a data analytics or data driven regulatory examiner or audit role
  • 5-8+ years' experience in financial services, broker/dealer, RIA, or at a regulator such as FINRA or SEC, CFTC, NFA
  • Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office software including Excel and Power BI (including formulas, Pivot Tables, Power Query, VBA, etc.), PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Visio, and SharePoint

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong risk and business acumen
  • Foundational knowledge of retail broker-dealer rules and regulations
  • Regulatory compliance, legal, audit, or regulatory examiner experience
  • Series 7, 9/10 or 24
  • Experience in data analytics, reporting, data visualization, and/or machine learning tools and techniques (including Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, Power Automate, Power Apps, etc.)
  • Highly analytical with a passion for data driven insights and analytics
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to present results and communicate effectively with all levels of an organization
  • Highly collaborative with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience leading strategic initiatives independently with limited oversight including conducting ad-hoc deep dive reviews and risk assessments
  • Results driven with demonstrated ability to execute with speed; experience in working within fast paced environments with evolving regulatory expectations and business needs
  • Ability to self-manage, prioritize, and multitask; proactively escalates
  • Strong self-awareness and emotional maturity, high standards and integrity
