Location: Gulfton Area, Houston, TX,

You will promote sexual and reproductive health within the community by conducting outreach, collecting data, and providing education. You will engage with community members through door-to-door surveys and narrative interviews, developing culturally specific educational materials, and facilitating health programming. You will also incorporate arts-based approaches into the curriculum and outreach efforts to foster creativity and engagement, empowering community members to share their experiences and enhance their understanding of reproductive health resources and services.

You Will

  • Engage community members to promote health programs.
  • Conduct outreach in community settings (schools, events, apartment complexes).
  • Report insights to supervisors to improve programs.
  • Collaborate on culturally specific, arts-based educational materials (e.g., storytelling, visual arts).
  • Translate materials into multiple languages for accessibility.
  • Develop lesson plans on topics like menstrual health and family planning,
  • Incorporate reproductive health education into existing programs (Women’s Circle, SEL programs).
  • Facilitate Conversation Circles for open dialogue on sensitive topics.
  • Organize and promote Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Workshops with healthcare providers.
  • Coordinate care with providers and community partners.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance skills.
  • Facilitate workshops on reproductive health, chronic disease management, and mental health.
  • Help individuals access healthcare services and resources, including appointment scheduling and understanding insurance.

Requirements

You Have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Prior experience in community health or social services, especially with reproductive health and immigrant/refugee populations.
  • Proficiency in data collection and technology for outreach.
  • Compassionate, culturally sensitive, and committed to promoting health equity and access to reproductive healthcare.

Working Conditions

Your work will involve a combination of community-based and office work. It may include activities such as walking, standing, bending, and lifting moderate weight. Some tasks will be desk-based, using a computer, phone, and other office equipment. You will need to travel to deliver CHAT programming and attend conferences and events relevant to the role. Flexibility is important, as priorities may shift, and short-term projects may arise. Weekend or evening work may be needed. Accommodations are provided to support different abilities in completing these tasks. This is an in person position.
