Position Overview

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Application Support Engineer to take charge of supporting our business-critical applications. As the key contact for application-related issues, you will collaborate with business partners and the IT development team to ensure swift resolution of application problems. This role combines production support with opportunities to contribute to application improvements, requiring a strong technical foundation in Microsoft technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between business operations and the IT team regarding service tickets, outages, and communications.
  • Adhere to incident management guidelines as outlined by Redwood Trust IT protocols.
  • Triage, prioritize, and escalate service tickets, following up with IT teams to ensure timely resolution.
  • Collaborate with staff, senior management, and third-party application support teams across multiple offices.
  • Troubleshoot issues by running basic SQL queries and analyzing results.
  • Monitor and remediate incoming application issues, providing prompt and professional feedback to end-users.
  • Identify problematic trends, offering suggestions or workarounds to address recurring issues.
  • Participate in special projects to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of application support processes.
  • Stay current with changes and updates to third-party applications to better support business teams.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting proprietary application software in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mortgage industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to run and interpret basic SQL queries for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Skilled in identifying irregularities and bugs in applications.

Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex technical issues to non-technical users and IT professionals.
  • Attention to detail, with solid problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Able to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
  • Technical aptitude and good judgment for resolving application-related issues.

Education:

  • A four-year college degree or completion of an IT Bootcamp is preferred.
