We are seeking a Product Owner (Data Analytics & BI Reporting) with expertise in product management and agile methodologies. A background in cloud technologies (Snowflake & AWS) and Media & Entertainment experience will enhance your impact. You will excel with media-related data and BI products (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). You have a proven track record of translating Analytics and Reporting requirements into features for engineering teams. Passionate about delivering data solutions, you thrive in an Agile environment and focus on ROI.

You will own the product, identify improvements, and ensure timely delivery of milestones. Your duties include collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing data for quarterly reports presented to executives. You will work with cross-functional teams to align product strategy with business objectives. Your expertise in data landscapes will guide product decisions. Proficient in data-mapping, you support onboarding data from third-party vendors and creating new views.

Comfortable translating Jira tickets into user stories, you meet business requirements and take pride in successful products. Business intelligence and cloud data environments are your forte. You can differentiate between relational and non-relational databases, write SQL queries, and understand reporting tools. You generate quarterly reports, provide insights, and drive KPIs. You understand visualizing vs. engineering data and navigate the dev lifecycle, translating business needs into technical user stories for developers.

Our ideal consultant will have experience in the media entertainment industry (Film or TV) and with internal business-facing Data & BI Analytics products. The Product Owner must have excellent communication skills and be able to bring different teams together, navigate different priorities, drive business needs, and translate needs into finished successful products that deliver value. The person selected must be able to come into the office as needed (once a month or quarter) for key meetings, but will primarily work remote within EST hours (required). The office locations are New York, New Jersey, or Los Angeles. Responsibilities



  • Understand business Data and BI Analytics product needs and translate them for engineering teams.

  • Comprehend back-end cloud data environments, data tables, and structures (Snowflake & AWS).

  • Decide on features to solve challenges, document them, and collaborate with engineering partners.

  • Create and generate quarterly reports using the latest datasets and analytics in a fast-paced media environment.

  • Map data sources to identify optimal blends of reporting and analytics for product solutions.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering and business teams to deliver on the product roadmap.

  • Define and execute product strategy and roadmap for internal business-facing products.

  • Define KPIs and ensure products meet needs and performance requirements.

  • Oversee all stages of the product life cycle, from conception to launch and post-launch performance.

  • Understand customer needs, gather product requirements, and develop innovative solutions.

  • Stay updated on competitive landscape and industry trends to drive strategic product decisions.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, and regularly update them on progress.


Qualifications



  • Background and/or hands-on experience with back-end cloud data platforms Snowflake, AWS, Databricks etc. (we don't need a developer)

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role in the media entertainment industry with Film or TV data

  • Proficiency with BI tools and Tableau, and be able to generate and present quarterly reports to stakeholders and executives

  • Prior experience working closely with engineering teams and scoping work effort.

  • Experience in managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to roll up one's sleeves to get the job done.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience working with internal facing business teams and building internal products.


Requirements



  • Must have at least 6 years of data or analytics related Product Management experience

  • Experience with Film or TV data

  • Experience with cloud data environments (Snowflake, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, Databricks etc.)

  • Experience with Tableau highly preferred (Power BI, and other visualization tools nice to have)

  • Understand data tables, data sources, APIs, structured and non-structured data

  • Experience with Agile processes and methodology leading teams using best practices

  • SQL query skill (ideally able to write a query from scratch)

  • Must have experience working with both business stakeholders and engineering teams.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills


Additional Details


The base range for this contract position is $50 - $68/per hour, depending on experience.


Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered
