Description:

The International Division Human Resources (HR) Officer is an entry-level role that supports HR functions across the international division and various projects. The HR Officer will assist with all HR aspects throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring smooth HR operations and compliance with labor law and donor and organizational policies. This position is ideal for someone looking to start a career in HR within a dynamic international environment. The HR Officer will be supervised by a HR Business Partner or Senior HR Business Partner.

The preference is for this position to be based in Boston or Washington DC. We may also consider a fully remote position in states where JSI R&T is registered (AZ, AR, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, HI, IL, IN, LA, ME, MD, MA, MI, MN, NH, NJ, NM, NY, NC, PA, RI, TN, TX, VT, VA, WA, WI).

Responsibilities

  • Support the international HR team in developing and maintaining trackers and monitoring tools to streamline information on global HR staff and resources.
  • Monitor International HR email inbox and forward messages to the appropriate HRBP
  • Assist in setting up and ongoing management of project Replicon (timesheet) accounts, providing troubleshooting and support as needed.
  • Work with Director of Safety and Security to support development, rollout, and maintenance of international safety and security resources and policies at JSI.
  • Review HR components of project files to ensure completeness and compliance, and conduct periodic audits at US and country level.
  • Support recruitment efforts by drafting job descriptions, posting jobs, shortlisting candidates, scheduling and participating in interviews, and conducting reference checks.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of key HR documents for projects as assigned, including the Local Hire Employee Manual (LHEM) and Field Office Safety and Security Manual (FOSSM).
  • Support the process for various HR-related procurements, including the development and management of the RFP, coordination of the evaluation committee and review process, and the development of contract.
  • Work with project teams to coordinate the logistics and scheduling for all senior-level country office staff orientations.
  • Draft and compile the necessary documents for all projects’ HR-related approval request to the donor.
  • Support the HR elements of proposal development including recruitment, developing or formatting CVs, writing the personnel narrative, and developing the organization chart.
  • Develop guidance documents or resources on HR topics that can be used as training resources across the organization.
  • Assist the HR team with various division-wide projects.
  • Provide general HR support to ensure smooth project operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, international development/affairs, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the international health field, human resources, or other relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of human resources processes and practices.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience living or traveling internationally to low and middle income countries preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in English required; proficiency in another language a plus.
  • Strong understanding and commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information, with a proven ability to handle confidential information responsibly and securely.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage own time effectively and efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the Google suite of products (Gmail, Forms, Sheets, etc.)
