GENERAL DESCRIPTION :

The IT Computer Specialist has a crucial role within the bank's Information Technology department, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and security of computer systems and hardware. This position plays a vital role in supporting the bank's overall technology infrastructure and ensuring that all employees have reliable access to the necessary tools and resources to perform their daily tasks efficiently and securely.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB :

Computer Systems Maintenance and Support:
  1. Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, including desktops, laptops and peripherals.
  2. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware and software issues promptly, to minimize downtime and ensure optimal functionality.
  3. Respond to user inquires and support requests, resolving technical problems related to computer systems and software applications.

Network Support:
  1. Assist in managing and maintaining the bank's local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN).
  2. Collaborate with network administrators to ensure network connectivity and proper data transmission.
  3. Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and assist in resolving network-related problems.

Software Management:
  1. Manage software installations, updates, and upgrades on individual computers and across the network.
  2. Ensure compliance with licensing agreements for all software used within the bank.
  3. Support employees in the effective use of software applications and provide necessary training when required.

Data Security and Protection:
  1. Work closely with the IT security team to implement and enforce security measures to safeguard data and information.
  2. Monitor computer systems for potential security breaches and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks.
  3. Educate bank employees about best practices for data security and password management.

Hardware Inventory and Procurement:
  1. Maintain an inventory of all computer equipment and peripherals, ensuring accurate records are kept for tracking and auditing purposes.
  2. Collaborate with vendors and assist in the procurement of hardware and software as required, considering the bank's budget and technology needs.

IT Policies and Documentation:
  1. Contribute to the development and improvement of IT policies, procedures and guidelines.
  2. Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, troubleshooting steps and solutions.

Technology Upgrades and Projects:
  1. Assist in the planning and execution of technology upgrade projects, ensuring minimal disruption to bank operations.
  2. Stay informed about the latest technological advancements in the banking industry and provide recommendations for relevant improvements.


Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS :
  1. Must be proficient with 10-key (by touch); alpha/numeric data entry; spreadsheets, word processing, basic typing; programming languages, database.
  2. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and understand general business- and company-related articles and professional journals; ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  3. CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
  4. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Under general supervision where standard practice enables the employee to proceed alone on routine work, referring any questionable cases or issues to direct supervisor.
  5. MENTAL DEMAND: Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
  6. EMPLOYEE CONTACT: Regular contact with co-workers within the department, office or enterprise, which will require coordination of efforts generally in the normal course of performing duties; requires tact in discussing problems, presenting data and making recommendations.
  7. CONFIDENTIALITY: May be witness to confidential & propriety information; therefore, must demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining data security & confidentiality as it pertains to such information.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the essential functions of this job, this position is frequently required to sit, stand, talk or hear; use hands to feel and frequently are required to reach with their hands and arms and occasionally stand, walk, climb or balance; may occasionally lift, move, push or pull up to 100 pounds and frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. This is an indoor position and the noise level in the work area is usually moderate. The employee may occasionally be exposed to risk of electrical shock.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE :

Qualifications and Requirements:
  1. Associate's degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field.
  2. Proven experience in IT Helpdesk, preferably in a banking or financial services environment.
  3. Strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and software applications commonly used in a banking environment.
  4. Familiarity with network infrastructure, protocols and security concepts.
  5. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with bank staff and vendors.
  7. A commitment to data security and confidentiality.
  8. Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) would be advantageous.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

This position reports directly to the VP / IT Officer. The VP / IT Officer reports to the Executive Vice President / Operations, who reports directly to the CEO of American National Bank & Trust.
