As a Lead Product Designer, you define and drive the future of design at Starbucks on a global scale. Your role often extends beyond design itself into systems thinking, prioritization, product strategies, and data science. Your ability to represent product design and UX research while collaborating with leaders of other Design, Engineering, Product Management, and stakeholder teams is crucial. You're a fierce advocate for the Starbucks customer. You've got an instinctive sense of focused and clean design. You deeply understand complex business and user needs and distill them into simple features and flows.

What You'll Do:

  • Independently lead and drive the vision and value of UX design and research within and across cross-functional product teams, ensuring that user-centric design is at the forefront of our product development process.

  • Collaborate with product management to define and prioritize features that address both customer and business needs, ensuring a seamless user experience across all platforms.

  • Work closely with and mentor other product designers, providing constructive feedback to elevate the quality and consistency of our collective work.

  • Collaborate with data scientists and user researchers to assess the effectiveness and impact of your designs, to make informed decisions.

  • Serve as a mentor and leader to other product designers by guiding their work through design direction and fostering their professional growth and development within the team.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, delivering new features, bug fixes, and incremental improvements in response to customer needs.

  • Utilize Figma and other design tools to build and prototype designs, quickly iterating based on feedback.

  • Bring creativity and a positive attitude to collaborative efforts, contributing to a dynamic and enjoyable work environment.


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional design experience, ideally in building and shipping digital products.

  • Strong ability to clearly articulate conceptual ideas, design rationale, and detailed design elements, both verbally and visually.

  • Proven experience in a product organization, leading and driving the design processes from initial planning through multiple successful releases.

  • Expertise in UX strategy, interaction design, user research, prototyping, visual design, and driving user adoption.

  • Experience working closely with developers to iterate designs, ensuring both functional excellence and pixel-perfect execution.

  • Strong visual design skills, particularly in creating effective visual hierarchies, with meticulous attention to typography, spacing, and color.

  • Up-to-date with the latest digital trends and design process methodologies, constantly bringing and integrating new insights to the team and the work.
