The eLearning Designer advances curriculum delivery innovation and creativity throughout the college by collaborating with faculty to design, develop, and manage high-quality, accessible learning materials. This role serves as a technical expert in instructional multimedia and video production, providing faculty development opportunities through consultations and workshops and provides occasional support to in-person events. This position supports course development and design, educational technology, and digital accessibility initiatives, including providing consultation, planning, and production of courses, video, multimedia, interactive eLearning objects, accessible documents, and multimedia.

This role also contributes to course quality improvement processes and maintenance of templates to reflect best practices and comply with accessibility requirements. The role supports the College of Social Work's Digital Accessibility Coordinator in compliance support, remediation, and evaluation for accessibility compliance. Collaborate with ADA office, as well as Digital Accessibility Services at the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI).

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience developing interactive e-learning projects.
  • Experience planning and producing video and other instructional media.
  • Experience with digital accessibility or Universal Design for Learning.


Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Master's degree in Instructional/Learning Design, Educational Technology, or a related field of study OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years of experience developing interactive e-learning materials or courses and collaborating with subject-matter experts to enhance content delivery in a higher education setting.
  • Experience evaluating eLearning materials, websites, or software applications for compliance with WCAG AA 2.1 or similar digital accessibility standards.


Salary range is $ 58,700 - $77,200 annually. The actual salary will fall within this range based on the candidate's qualifications, internal equity, and the unit's available budget.

Responsibilities
  • Course Development:
    • Collaborate with instructional design team and subject-matter experts to develop or enhance content and utilize best-practice mechanisms to deliver content to learners
    • Apply instructional design principles to create effective learning experiences.
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of course templates.
  • Multimedia and eLearning Development:
    • Create interactive eLearning objects, simulations, and multimedia materials.
    • Collaborate with instructional designers to produce high-quality video, audio, and graphic elements for online courses.
    • Utilize Adobe Creative cloud and other tools to develop engaging content.
  • Faculty Collaboration and Support:
    • Provide consultations, workshops, and individualized support to share expertise in the development and use of e-learning methodologies for course design
    • Research and recommend new educational technologies and approaches.
  • Supporting Digital Accessibility:
    • Evaluate and remediate digital learning materials for accessibility compliance (WCAG).
    • Provide guidance and training to faculty on creating accessible content.
    • Stay current on accessibility best practices and emerging technologies.
