Location: Hammonton, NJ or Tinton Falls, NJ

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Environmental Staff member to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a blend of fieldwork and office-related tasks, contributing to environmental site assessments, sampling, data analysis, and report preparation. This role requires a strong foundation in environmental science, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in both collaborative and independent settings.

Core Job Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in a relevant environmental field.
  • 40-hour OSHA certification with current 8-hour Refresher.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and collaborative teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity or experience with the NJDEP’s Technical Guidance Documents and Technical Requirements for Site Remediation.

Field Work: (50-60%, but may be increased based on field needs)

  • Conduct environmental site assessments, soil, sediment, and groundwater sampling, and data analysis.
  • Perform soil boring and monitoring well installations, and surface soil sampling.
  • Experienced with due diligence requirements and commercial and industrial property transactional requirements, including Phase I ESAs and Preliminary Assessments.

Office-Related Support: (40-50%)

  • Proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.), AutoCAD, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Engage in report writing, data tabulation, and site map preparation.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, data management, and judgment capabilities.

Physical Job Qualifications

  • Most field duties are performed on foot.
  • Willingness to conduct field activities in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to carry equipment weighing up to 30 lbs unassisted.
  • Capability to push or pull items, bend at the knee, and reach above the head.
