Innovative Chemical Products Group (ICP Group) is a leading formulator and manufacturer of specialty coatings, adhesives, and sealants serving the construction and industrial end markets. ICP Group is headquartered in Andover, MA and has manufacturing and distribution sites throughout North America, Latin America, UK, Europe and the Asia Pacific region.

ICP Group is looking to identify a talented and experienced Technical Director to lead, develop and create training programs for our regional sales team and external customers. We need a self-motivated individual with proven technical, managerial outside sales experience. In this position you will be responsible for defining, articulating and implementing the organization s strategy for product and process development as well as assisting as requested with R&D projects including field evaluations, field trials and rollouts at lab applications.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support key projects with sales team, product management, operations, lead generation and R&D, to support sales and business goals.
  • Develop sales programs incorporating current developments to improve existing products and study the potential of new products.
  • Understand customer expectations with direct field application and installation of branded systems as well as competitive systems.
  • Determine and execute application methods, finishes, and best practices used by installers, customers and competitors.
  • Support Sales Director with onboarding, developing new sales personnel, supporting sales team in the field with presentations, 1:1 customer training, AIA engagements and internal cross-functional education.
  • Establish project goals and priorities by collaborating with Sales, Product Management Marketing and Operations.
  • Manage and own commercial QIR s (Quality Information Reports) on products, installations, shipping and manufacturing issues, inside operations and out in the field.
  • Research, design and evaluate new and innovative systems, processes, and technology trends.
  • Suggest and create training tools to enhance employee performance and skill development.
  • Monitor team metrics and objectives ensuring meeting of goals.
  • Document all phases of execution and development in Sales Force.
  • Manage customer relationships and perform customer visits and product training.
  • Attend industry events, committees, tradeshows, conferences and associations to drive market/brand presence.
  • Oversee complex installation projects, on-site monitoring of projects and provide recommendations based on findings.
  • Assess the scope of research projects and work with lead generation team to manage large scale projects.
  • Assist with distribution and private label customers where technical support is required for their technical departments
  • Obtain ESDA TR-53 Certification for ESD audits in the field.
  • 70% travel required

Experience needed
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the industrial, commercial and architectural coating industries
  • A bachelor s degree is preferred in relative construction-based field; commensurate field experience and knowledge is also acceptable
  • Strong leadership skills, critical thinking, strong organizational planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; team player and independent worker
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Must be able to communicate in English; Spanish bi-lingual is a plus for internation customer base
