OPPORTUNITY

For a highly skilled and licensed Structural Engineer to join Hixson s management team as the head of the structural engineering department. Ideal candidate must have a proven record in the design and construction of complex structures. As the department manager and subject matter expert for structural engineering systems, oversee a talented team of engineers, manage project workflow, ensure the structural integrity of designs, and work collaboratively across multidisciplinary design teams. This position requires a visionary leader with strong technical expertise, management skills, and a passion for innovation in the field of structural engineering to join an integrated team of architects, engineers and project managers and engage in challenging projects up to $500 million for many of the biggest brands in the industry and North America.

POSITION

Reports to the President/CEO and manages a department of six. Serves as the Structural Engineer of Record (SEOR) for projects across the United States and Canada, ensuring compliance with all local, state, provincial, and federal regulations. Performs detailed structural analysis and design for a wide range of large-scale, complex projects within food and beverage, workplace, and science + technology market segments. Drives employee development and engagement through coaching, mentoring and training.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis on structures; PE required with ability to be licensed in all 50 U.S. states and Canada
  • 10+ years of experience in structural design and analysis/project leadership responsibilities
  • Prior management, staffing and team building experience; strong interpersonal skills, work ethic and leadership capabilities
  • Wide range of knowledge in design of structural steel, concrete, masonry, cold-formed metal framing, deep foundations, precast
  • Competence in design/analysis software such as Ram Structures/Elements, TEDDS, Hilti Profis, L-Pile
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage priorities, work independently and complete assignments to schedule
