Job Description

Principal Product Manager

San Francisco (Hybrid), New York (Hybrid), or United States (Remote)

Why We Matter: Aura connects people around the world through a brilliant and simple photo-sharing experience on our customers digital picture frames. We are driven to connect people and deliver joy by liberating the wonderful photos that might otherwise stay trapped on smartphones. Technology and innovation are at the core of every decision we make, but always in the service of bringing families and friends closer together.

How You Will Add Value: Aura is looking for a seasoned Principal Product Manager to help build the future of Aura across our mobile apps and interactive digital photo frames. As a customer-focused product manager, you will drive the prioritization, definition and delivery of consumer-facing experiences used by millions of users globally. As a collaborative team member, you will work with designers, software and hardware engineers, other product managers and business stakeholders to identify and solve impactful problems for our users and our business.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, prioritize and solve user problems -- alongside a team of engineers, designers and other product managers that achieve business goals. With input and context from other product teams and business stakeholders, own product discovery efforts, roadmap-building, prioritization, and execution for your product area.
  • Be accountable for outcomes, not outputs. Understand the business opportunity, the ROI of what you re proposing, and the impact of what you ve built. Communicate that impact to your team and the broader organization.
  • Deeply understand our customers. Talk to them frequently and learn their pain points, needs and desires. Work closely with design and market research to conduct open-ended user research, participate in focus groups and build surveys.
  • Regularly intake both quantitative and qualitative data about our business (sales + revenue), our users habits (onboarding funnels, user retention, app activities) and user pain points (customer support tickets) to help drive discovery for new solutions and refine existing experiences. Take a data-driven approach to your work.
  • Be agile and collaborative with other designers, product managers and engineers. There are no hand-offs here; the team collectively works together on defining and solving problems for end users.
  • Work closely with the rest of the organization to deeply understand our ambitious business goals and how your work can directly contribute to them. Deeply understand the outcome that you re trying to achieve.
  • Be both a teacher and student within the product team to help the team as a whole continue to improve.
  • Above all, strive to make Aura s business, product and culture great.

Requirements

We Are Excited About You Because:

  • You have 7 or more years of experience as a product manager who can take features from concept to launch. Ideally, at least one of those years were spent working on scaled (1M+ users) consumer-facing native mobile apps. Startup experience strongly preferred. Working on a software product tightly coupled with hardware a huge bonus.
  • You can effectively communicate with leaders at all levels from engineers, designers and product managers to executive leadership. People get excited after meetings with you.
  • You re comfortable with ambiguity and the ability to turn uncertainty into action. You know how to make things happen.
  • You re a big picture thinker who loves digging into the details.
  • You re comfortable working on a distributed team.
  • You're preferably located in NYC or San Francisco and willing to come hang out in the office with us.

Because You Matter: We believe in creating a happy and supportive work environment, so you can both excel at your job and enjoy coming into work each day.

Compensation and Benefits:

At Aura, we believe in creating a happy and supportive work environment so you are set up to succeed in your job and do the best work of your career, whether in-person, remotely, or both. (Benefits may differ for part-time or international roles.)

Compensation: $200,000, commensurate with experience
