Summary

We are seeking a skilled Azure Engineer with a strong background in DevOps and IT Security to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience configuring and customizing DevOps work item tracking processes, managing code configuration, and ensuring traceability throughout the development lifecycle. In addition to DevOps responsibilities, this role will serve as the primary technical resource for IT security-related activities. The candidate must have a deep understanding of security best practices, vulnerability management, and compliance standards within a cloud-based environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Configure, customize, and optimize Azure DevOps pipelines, work item tracking processes, and workflows.
  • Manage code configuration management, ensuring traceability, integrity, and alignment with project timelines.
  • Integrate continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, ensuring efficient deployment practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement effective DevOps practices and promote agile methodologies.
  • Serve as the technical resource for IT security activities, ensuring that security standards and practices are embedded in the development lifecycle.
  • Design, implement, and monitor security controls within Azure cloud environments, identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities.
  • Provide guidance on security best practices for cloud-native applications, infrastructure as code (IaC), and containerized workloads.
  • Conduct security assessments, including penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, and security incident response.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational security standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to design and enforce access controls, encryption standards, and data protection strategies.
  • Develop security-related documentation, policies, and incident response protocols.
  • Stay current on security trends, emerging threats, and the latest developments in DevOps practices and cloud security.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in Azure DevOps engineering and related technologies.
  • Strong expertise in Azure cloud environments, including Azure Pipelines, Azure Repos, and ARM templates.
  • Proficiency in configuring and customizing work item tracking systems in Azure DevOps.
  • Experience in code configuration management, version control (e.g., Git), and traceability tools.
  • Deep understanding of IT security principles, including vulnerability management, threat detection, and remediation.
  • Experience with IT security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls).
  • Familiarity with security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and SIEM solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with security for cloud-native environments, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues across DevOps and security domains.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in Azure DevOps and/or Security (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate, CISSP, CEH).
  • Experience with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Azure Monitor, Prometheus, or Grafana.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements, such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI-DSS.
  • Experience in incident management and disaster recovery planning.

    Compensation and Location

    This is a full-time position based in Charlotte, NC, with a competitive salary, bonus, and benefits package commensurate with experience. Candidates must be willing to relocate if not currently residing in Charlotte, NC.
