The Miami Institute for Data Science and Computing (IDSC) has a temporary job opportunity for a Programmer 1 to work at the University of Miami.

The Programmer 1 (N) analyzes, designs, writes, tests, and implements new programs and applications. Moreover, the incumbent maintains and revises existing systems and provides technical assistance to end-users and others within Information Technology.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Plans, develops, tests, and documents computer programs.
  • Reviews software and hardware needs and ensures system projects are compatible.
  • Assists with the preparation of program documentation and detailed specifications.
  • Researches, designs, documents, and modifies existing programs and applications.
  • Creates and supports the creation of data queries for automated processes and ad hoc business analysis.
  • Monitors performance of programs after implementation.
  • Assists with the preparation of program documentation and detailed specifications.
  • Writes and maintains documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.
  • Assists end users in implementing and supporting current and new systems.
  • Implements programming changes that result in correct outcomes when the test plans are implemented.
  • Notifies appropriate managing staff when software or database problems are detected and assists in the analysis and resolution of the problem.
  • Maintains current knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and systems.
  • Provides on-call support and problem resolution for computer applications.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in relevant field

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
