The Director of Academic Labor Administration is a critical member of the Office of the Provost team who serves as a connector across the units within the Office of the Provost, Schools/Colleges, and Human Resources, supporting the successful administration of academic labor contracts with unionized student workers and faculty. The Director, in conjunction with these areas, will help to collaborate and establish service level agreements with respect to roles & responsibilities. This will include reporting and technical system needs. The Director is an excellent project manager, overseeing cross-campus working groups to implement and administer the contract and establishing consistency within our academic units. The Director also manages all labor-related communications from the Office of the Provost, including updating the website information.

Essential Function:

Leadership and collaboration: The Director serves as the main collaborative partner between the Office of the Provost and Human Resources. They lead and regularly convene a working group of relevant administrators and academic leaders within the schools/colleges to ensure the contracts are well-understood and implemented consistently across schools and colleges. They also regularly connect with all partners within the Office of the Provost to ensure there is not duplication of work across the academic union contracts.

Project management: The Director oversees the complex and diverse action items for the University and develops mechanisms to track the progress of cross-campus partners implementing aspects of the contract. They also serve as a problem solver and thought leader, leading the conceptualization of processes that are efficient and grounded in best practices in student affairs.

Reporting: In consultation with Human Resources, Institutional Research and Analytical Services, and Continuous Improvement and Data Analytics, the Director develops robust mechanisms for reporting union- related information and disseminates the reports in compliance with FERPA regulations as relevant to the appropriate campus partners implementing the contract. They also develop regular reports for distribution to university leadership.

Communication: The Director drafts union-related communications for the Office of the Provost and maintains and updates web-based resources required in the collective bargaining agreement.

Special projects: The Director contributes to working groups or special projects within the Office of the Provost or Human Resources as assigned by the Associate Provosts of Faculty or Graduate Affairs.
