The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is seeking to hire a Research Technician 1 to work under the direction of Dr. Donald S. Williamson. This position assists with gathering data, assess machine learning models (i.e., modify their structure and rerun them using different input data), and testing scenarios(i.e., test them out in different evaluation scenarios) involving existing models for auditory attention detection (AAD). This position relies on guidance of the supervisor in curating the data sets and selecting appropriate machine learning models. Furthermore, the candidate should consult with the supervisor for more complex problems.

Qualifications

Required: High School graduate or Associate Degree in computer science or other technical field. 0-1 years of relevant experience in machine learning and, especially, in training and evaluating different models. PyTorch or TensorFlow experience.

Desired: Effective communication skills (presentation and oral), independent worker, self starter. 0.5-2 years of relevant experience in machine learning and, especially, in training and evaluating different models. PyTorch or TensorFlow experience. A successful candidate understands how to use Python computer code to train models and evaluate their performance. A successful candidate also has first-hand experience (applied and theoretical) with artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning.

Additional Information:

The target hiring range for this job profile is $15.00 - $19.71/hour, paid biweekly. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
