Infrastructure Automation/Maintenance Systems Administrator

Location: Schriever AFB, Colorado Springs, CO
Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance (or within the last 5 years)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our Global Infrastructure team in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This role will focus on maintaining and sustaining a hyperconverged infrastructure, collaborating with internal and external teams, and implementing innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building and managing project plans, working with cross-functional teams, and supporting the software development lifecycle within a cloud-based environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply broad principles, theories, and concepts to solve complex technical challenges.
  • Design, plan, and manage resources to support infrastructure projects, lab construction, and equipment setup (rack, space, and power).
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines to streamline software development workflows.
  • Collaborate with Network Engineers, System Administrators, and Cyber teams to enhance engineering rigor and ensure milestones are met.
  • Administer Linux systems, particularly RHEL, including networking and protocols.
  • Automate VM buildouts using tools like Nutanix and VMware.
  • Work with configuration management (CM) to ensure processes are compliant and well-documented.
  • Implement container orchestration solutions (e.g., Kubernetes) to support databases, GitLab, Nexus, and mission software.
  • Operate within Agile Software Development organizations using the SAFe framework.
  • Serve as a point of contact for technical issues related to specific projects, representing the organization to both internal and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • Current IAT2 certification (or higher DoD-compliant certification) to fulfill DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Active or recent TS/SCI clearance (within the last 5 years).
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • 3+ years of experience building project plans, managing resources, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong Linux administration experience, particularly with RHEL.
  • Familiarity with tools like Terraform, Ansible, and shell scripting.
  • Experience in automating VM buildouts using Nutanix or VMware.
  • 1+ year of experience with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Current Linux certification to fulfill DoD computing environment requirements.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with SAFe Agile framework in software development organizations.
  • Background in cloud solutions and implementations.
  • Understanding of System Administration and Network Engineering roles in cloud environments.
  • Strong communication skills for frequent interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
