Microsoft 's newly appointed Chief Operations Officer (COO) is looking for a communications professional to lead executive communications for our COO . The Senior Director , Communications will act as a trusted advisor to both the COO and the ir Leadership Team , collectively driving storytelling that will shape the future of Microsoft's Continuous Improvement and AI journey . This role will work to ensure that everyone on the team and across the company feels connected to our journey.

The Senior Director , Communications is responsible for collaborating with internal stakeholders and partners to create, plan, and implement effective communications vehicles designed to support our strategic imperatives. This leader will be involved in all stages of communications initiatives-from concept formulation and message development to execution and results-oriented evaluation. They will define the organization's communication strategy and narrative, develop organizational communications that build momentum and foster a thriving organization, and use the COO organization as customer zero for Microsoft's approach to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business , Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 8+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.


Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with both dyna mic large and start-up organization s , building and landing a cultural movement, leveraging communications as a critical tool .
  • Lean operations background and deep business/industry/market acumen.
  • 5+ years experience interfacing with c-level executives.


Communications IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $154,500 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $199,600 - $299,400 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a scalable, cross- company communication strategy and execution plan that supports our business goals around Continuous Improvement in partnership with corporate communications .
  • D evelop a framework to measure progress (monitor, track, and analyze the impact of and responses to messaging, enabling future iteration ) .
  • Create, maintain , and execute the C OO organization employee communications and platforms, inclusive of social channels as needed.
  • Ensure COO speeches, presentations and engagements land Continuous Improvement messaging clearly and effectively.
  • Create an inclusive, collaborative environment for the development and production of communications materials and deployment of communications tactics (e.g., decks, posts, talking points).
  • Lead an internal communications rhythm of business to ensure all are informed of communications purpose and plans.
  • Lead team to develop and drive stories in fresh ways that generate positive perceptions towards Continuous Improvement and AI transformation.
  • Align internal communication strategies and tactics with our external communications and marketing organizations.
  • Research and document best practices for Microsoft executive and employee communications.
